I worked at Fellowes Brands full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Employees are friendly and the the work-life balance was definitely good. Management does try to inspire and recognize employee contributions.

Cons

Little room for growth and learning. Skills in Marketing were minimal and management was weak. Management and employees don't keep up with current business trends. Definitely not a place to increase your skill set or have upward mobility. Products lines are dated and little innovation work in the company.

Advice to Management

Focus on keeping your skills current.

    Pros

The benefits are relatively good, the pay is ok. There are some very nice people throughout the company. It was close to home.

    Cons

Fellowes used to be a company that cared about it's employees. As they became a larger orginization, this seemed to slip away. It was sad, John Fellowes would not have been happy about the overall way in which the company dealt with people. The plant and office personnel are definitely treated different. When an issue arises there is no place to go, where you can speak with anybody that will actually listen to your side.

    Advice to Management

I would like to see some kind of plan where all of the people could voice their opinion about any particular issue/concern that is important to them, without fear of retribution. The people at the top should not always trust that the people directly below them are doing what is right for the company, or for that matter, what is morally correct. I wish they would treat ALL the people with the same amount of respect.

    You can learn a lot.

    Cons

There is no work life balance.
They lay offs people any time there is any issue. They treat their employee like a machine. Employees are expense to them and not an asset.
