I worked at Ferguson Enterprises full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

The company is a product of multiple acquisitions and as a result has very diverse culture. You get to work with wonderful people from different parts of the country. If you have set your mind to achieve something don't let early baffles discourage you, it's all part of learning process. If you are here just for a paycheck - get a job in one of the shared centers. If you are here for a career - start at the branch.

Cons

Ferguson has somewhat new corporate structure in the form of matrix with many functions taken from the branch level and moved to centralized locations. Yes, this saved some money but changed mentality from "we're all in the same boat" to "I got to cover my own a$$".
Working 50hrs/week is definitely a con and a good way to save on labor costs.

Advice to Management

It's time to get rid of the parent

    Pros

    Didn't get to find out

    Cons

No training manual available to me until 2 weeks in, "trainer" was a manager that didn't even do the processes on a regular basis and was rarely present to guide learning, second person used as a "trainer" had a different way of doing things (which when I did them his way I was told they were wrong". Asked for more/different training and shadowing someone else in the department- all requests ignored and then they can me with no notice, no feedback prior to. I will hold my MBA in September, what they did was unethical, unprofessional and the site will suffer for their lack of real management/leadership and training.

    Advice to Management

Communicate! Be present! Don't hand new employees off to one another and expect great returns; you have not invested!

I have been working at Ferguson Enterprises full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent benefits, espp program, spiffs as showroom consultant are nice

    Cons

Absolutely no community involvement, vacation days you get paid 8 hours instead of full 10, a lot of manager positions that are not
    Needed.

    Advice to Management

Trim back the chain of command, way too confusing to have to answer to so many different bosses
