I have been working at FibroGen full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

FibroGen has a promising pipeline targeting unmet medical needs. It is great to get paid for developing novel drugs patients need with large market potentials.. Lots of positive energy, highly collaborative clinical teams. Financially stable, well funded. Company is growing, lots of professional growth opportunities. Compensation was good to begin with, but just got better in the past year with further improved bonus plans, matching 401K, in this company which employee stock option is part of the comp package, and has not gone public yet. CEO is extraordinary in business decisions, management, & corporate planning, weathered economic downturn, signed excellent partnering deals, just Google the terms "FibroGen, AstraZeneca" to see the last deal in July, 2013. He has clearly demonstrated strong commitments towards clinical development and scientific innovations. Also lots of opportunity for international experience thru global clinical trials. Talents and hard work are recognized and rewarded at FibroGen.

Cons

While clinical is in the growth mode, we at times need to put in more than 100% time and effort to do the interesting work.

Advice to Management

Please continue recruiting the best to fully build our teams, and support our execution of these excellent projects to market for patients and for value creation.

    Pros

The building is nice and in a good location. You have access to a cafeteria and a gym on site. The benefits are decent. Salaries are good.

    Cons

Unfortunately, the bad reputation of this company precedes itself. The clinical department is a revolving door. Money dictates every decision. The bitterness of low quality is felt long after the sweetness of low cost is gone. Toxicity trickles down from the executive level. There are only two types of people at this organization; the ones with power, and the ones without power. Unfortunately, most people are powerless.

    Advice to Management

If you want to recruit and keep top talent, the culture must change. The change has to come from the top.
