I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits - been at the company 20 years, I hope I can be there another 20. If you have a good manager, don't leave. The benefits are stellar, great match, retiree medical, health, dental, tuition reimbursement.
I've moved from Salt Lake, to Marlborough, to Westlake with Fidelity. If you are at a site with growth that's the place to be.
Starting diversity groups - Women's Networking Group, Aspire (Hispanic), etc.
If you can find the right niche, it's great to be entreprenurial with the company.
You must work on networking and be proactive in finding your proper place in the company.
There are so many things to learn and do if you are pro-active. You cannot wait for someone to recognize you - find your passion and pursue it!

    Cons

Functions are still somewhat siloed. There are so many cost pressures in the industry right now that is constrains budgets and opportunities. It used to be sky's the
If you want to grow, try to get out of phones or operations.
Perfectionistic - bar is always raised.
Failure is punished severely, but if you can endure experience can push you to a better spot.

    Advice to Management

Very bureaucratic with HR. Hard to understand where the opportunities are. Why does the General Management Apprentice program require you to relocate to another site? There are so many great people in the regional sites but everyone is so separated from Senior Management in Boston who does not take advantage of technology to keep connected with associates. Look for associates in the regional sites to step up to the plate.

I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Smart, "sane" people (for the most part); an ethic culture and firm.

    Cons

Not many people go the extra mile.

    Advice to Management

Return to some of your pre-2008 generosity, i.e., corporate lunches, outtings, etc.
