I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Great office facilities. Good benefits. A pro and a con, the office is empty at 5pm, literally. Good if you've got kids, bad if you're a workaholic. The company belongs to the Johnson family so you don't have the "make the quarter numbers or bust" attitude you'll find at publicly traded firms.

Cons

Sparse vacation, only 15 days a year. Company is constricting, merit raises were half of inflation across the IT groups this year. Technologies used internally are well behind the leading edge and well behind peer institutions.

Advice to Management

Dear Fidelity, you have internal incubators like FCAT, use those new technologies across the board like you did during the late 1990's when you brought out the first mobile based trading applications.

I worked at Fidelity Investments full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great training, and good job benefits

    Cons

Extreme micromanaging, not transparent about the actual role you take on.

    Advice to Management

Be upfront with new recruits about the roles they will have, instead of sugar coating it.

  2. "Great Company but primarily phone based interactions with overbearing emphasis on tracking every number possible"

    Pros

Great pay and benefits, good for career start

    Cons

Way too focused on phone based metrics - bonuses based largely on emailed client surveys and excessively tracked metrics - phone jobs are 100% phone based so no break to do other duties
