I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

There is a lot of focus on helping you advance your skills and career. They reward hard work and the people you work with are typically very professional and passionate about what they do. It would be very hard to leave the generous benefits and compensation once you have moved into a more advanced role.

Cons

Sometimes it feels that senior management doesn't realize that their metrics and standards actually make it harder to help clients. They are great at taking small rocks out of the way, but the bigger rocks are next to impossible to move. Even when it is clear that they should be.

Advice to Management

Love the culture, love the benefits, just listen more to your client-facing employees.

I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I will say that the Series 7 training that they provide is excellent. Ok for a year, if it's your first job out of college.

    Cons

Upper management does a great cheer-leading bit but the real world is quite different. Every move you make is recorded and monitored, if you make a rookie mistake they make you feel terrible, very little praise without a "but". Lot's of nitpicking criticism. You have no time to socialize because every minute is accounted for. The work itself is ok but quite a grind when you average 50 calls a day with only 2 15 min. breaks. Grueling for little pay.

    Advice to Management

You work people to death, for sub-par wages. Then you criticize and berate employees for every little thing. The only reason you have good retention is that the economy is terrible for jobs. When this changes you will see a mass exodus.

I worked at Fidelity Investments full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Competitive pay, treats employees well, lots of unique benefits, continuously improves employee experience & opportunities, strong ethical standards.

    Cons

Many policies set in stone without consideration to individual employee situations. Loyalty is not always rewarded. Very competitive and sometimes political internal advancement and mobility. Strict & methodical salary grades. HR screening process for applicants could be better.

    Advice to Management

Strict relocation decision policy should be more flexible for unforeseen events that can happen to a loyal employee.
