I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

My branch office in New England has an outstanding team culture where the focus isn't just on doing the right thing for your customer, but also doing the right thing to support your colleagues. The culture of collaboration is rare in the world of financial advisors, but that's due to the unique branch office model which is based on a team effort and results. An added bonus - the branch manager publicly acknowledges staff who have done a good job in weekly team meetings.

Cons

None. I've worked for 3 financial service companies and this is, by far, the best in the business for financial advisors.

I worked at Fidelity Investments full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Support from management is good. They trust their employees.
Good projects - projects vary and are constantly challenging
Great workforce - nearly everyone who works for Fidelity is someone you would want on your side.

    Cons

    Lots of red tape
Big company feel - even for tech side
Change resistance - Not as open to change as an agile group should be. Agile methodology is in place but not agile mentality in most cases
Base pay & Grade - lots of emphasis into time at a grade level rather than rewarding performance

  2. "Solid company to work for, but not cutting edge in terms of technology."

I worked at Fidelity Investments full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, above average pay, great bonuses, stable company. Senior Management is older and mostly promoted from internal groups which shows you can have a long career here.

    Cons

Technology groups moved slow to market, used older technologies that legacy systems are based on. Many times there is a mentality that if it's not broke don't fix it, even when systems have the potential for improvement.

    Advice to Management

Be willing to listen to younger employees and try new approaches / technologies
