Pros
I appreciate the overall friendliness and culture at Fidelity & Guaranty Life. I came from state government and was used to a very strict, regimented work life. The freedom I have been given at Fidelity is a breath of fresh air. I feel valued and even though I have little to no experience in the insurance industry I feel that I my daily contributions are appreciated. This is a new company that is growing and is working to ensure that all employees feel valued no matter the role.
Cons
I am disappointed by the summer hours schedule that is expected of all employees. As an hourly employee it is difficulty to manage 40 hours in a 38 hour work week while salaried employees see no change to their Friday schedule. Hourly employees are expected to make up the 2 hours during the week in exchange for an early out on Friday. There is no benefit to an early Friday when you have the same family issues and have needed to rearrange your work hours to accommodate management's request.
