Pros

This is a very interesting business in which to gain experience, since everybody uses electricity. I enjoyed the quantitative nature of the work, and the opportunities to gain more in-depth knowledge about topics like energy generation and distribution, as well as the nature of new deregulation policies in Ohio.

Cons

This is a conservative company. This means the overall pace of work is rather slow, and there's a bit of lack of motivation coming down from management. Again, the company is regulated by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio-meaning the bottom line is assured by political deals with PUCO, and not as much by efficiency and scale.

Advice to Management

Embrace deregulation.

I worked at FirstEnergy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Great Pay and Benefits
    - Car Allowance
    - Training
    - Large workstations and free train tickets

    Cons

It is difficult to advance upward in such a large company. I had to leave as it was too much competition and the new recruits from College keep flooding the hiring gates.

    Advice to Management

Respect the older employees who have the experience.
