Pros

It’s a collaborative environment where people are incredibly talented. The structure is flat, which allows for a lot of independence in how you approach your work. Working here feels meaningful because the product focuses on improving health outcomes. It’s a fast-moving office, but the work remains interesting and the product itself is really fun and varied.

Cons

Expectations here are high, particularly regarding autonomy and flexibility; failure to meet these standards often leads to quick departures. SLT run a monthly review where they decide which employees they would 'fight to keep.' This process was only recently made transparent, and feels impersonal & a little brutal. Job security feels low.

Pros

FitXR is one of the most collaborative and engaging places I’ve worked. The organization attracts highly motivated people who take pride in what they do and genuinely want to help each other succeed. It’s a friendly, open culture where ideas flow easily and cross-team collaboration is the norm, not the exception. The company truly embraces an AI-first mindset, encouraging continuous learning, experimentation, and personal development. It’s a place where you can grow quickly while being surrounded by people who are both kind and smart. I’ve loved my experience here and would highly recommend to anyone who wants to make a difference in an exciting field with a company that is truly paving the way forward!

Cons

Fast-paced environment means priorities can shift quickly which is exciting, but requires adaptability.

Pros

Work from home works very well for me personally and the flexibility and freedom it allowed was very nice. I also met some great people who I still see and keep in touch with at this company.

Cons

After working for FitXR for four years, I've seen the company change a lot. The gradual shift from helping people feel good in their bodies and finding a way to be fit to making sure the number always goes up and profitability being the only thing that matters. One thing that didn't change was the horrible leadership at this company. I can not count the number of times projects were scrambled together a week before the senior leadership team "needed" them done. The number of times projects got half-way through completion to then have the direction change and all that work was wasted. There are a few culprits of this, but the primary one is the CEO and the Senior Leadership Team. Not only is the CEO wildly unqualified to run a company, they are also one of the fakest, most condescending people I've ever had the displeasure of meeting. They will tell you whatever you want to hear to your face and then stab you in the back the moment it's convenient. I have seen them lay off 10 people, then tell us that no more job cuts are coming to then lay off 15 more people a few weeks later and so much more. There is an insane amount of red tape at this company and whoever has the CEO’s ear at the time seems to be able to steer the company in a different direction. Every problem starts somewhere, and unfortunately most of them start at the top at FitXR. I also was unable to get a raise at this company during my time. I got one small bonus for good performance that while nice, ultimately changed nothing for me. Every time I would push for a raise I was told "next performance cycle" and then 3 weeks before that performance cycle it was suddenly pushed back to a different date. There is very little room for growth here and they WILL force you to do more work than your job requires and not pay you adequately for it. I ended up absorbing my old boss's role and another coworker's job and was given zero compensation. I’ve also seen this happen to many other people at the company. With all that in mind, I cannot in good conscience recommend working for this company.

I appreciate you taking the time to share this. A few things I want to address. We're 100% committed to the mission and proving that exercise can be fun for everyone. The focus on profitability is how we build a sustainable business that delivers on that mission for the long term. Like any startup, over the years, there have been times when teams have been stretched. We listen to our team and have policies like unlimited annual leave so team members can take the time to recharge in ways that suit them best. Our most recent company-wide survey showed the highest levels of engagement and connectedness we've ever had, and we're committed to keeping that trajectory. I try to be candid and transparent with everyone on the team, so I'm surprised to hear you felt the opposite. There have been some role redundancies over the years, but not in the way you describe. We consistently get feedback that FitXR has very low levels of politics and bureaucracy - a few weeks ago, a previous employee reached out for advice on replicating our no red tape culture. I appreciate the contributions you made during your time here and would be happy to speak more - please reach out anytime. Sam, Co-Founder & CEO
