I worked at Fleshlight full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Very good compensation both in salary & benefits. Fun, politically incorrect work environment that feels more like a boys club than a job. An environment where "NSFW" (not safe for work) websites are things like google news, porn browsing on breaks is almost encouraged.

Cons

Utter and total lack of management with more between their ears than pocket lint. Management changes occur for no reason and are almost always a total disaster. For example, the director of marketing was fired and then replaced with a girl who does makeup for photo shoots. A director of marketing at a multi million dollar company who's only credentials are "does makeup". Mind blowing. In addition, there is an almost constant cloud of fear in the air. You can and will be fired for no reason whatsoever. You could generate millions of dollars for the company through your efforts and you will still be fired for no reason whatsoever. Bottom line is that if the product did not sell itself, this company would have gone under years ago.

Advice to Management

Listen to the advice and input of your intelligent, experienced employees. They are your greatest asset. Stop instilling a sense of fear in your workforce, it's counter productive. Stop playing politics with your employees and treat your business as a business, not a club that requires ass-kissing to get into. The only thing you get out of the current culture is a squad of yes-men who don't care about the business. Wake up, they only care about the big check you write to them twice a month. Your company could be so much more if you would just let the smart people you hire do their jobs.

    Pros

The salaries are great. Insurance is decent and we have access to a great gym in the building. Co-workers are good people to work with and all very smart and competent. Politically incorrect and laid-back atmosphere but we work hard.

    Cons

No promotion path. No set vacation time. No set sick/personal days. Asking for time off is generally frowned upon. Nepotism is rampant. Management changes can occur on a whim and often are disasters. Lack of cohesive planning. Very politically incorrect work environment, some of this is due to the nature of the business and is not necessarily unwelcome but may be a downside to some people.

    Advice to Management

Improve your planning and communicate this to staff. Stop falling for every silver bullet that is pitched to you, these never work out. Respect your staff more and provide paths of growth for them. Be more consistent in the way you manage the business.

    Pros

Absolutely the compensation offered coupled with the atmosphere of entrepreneurial excitement. The company's potential truly is unlimited, and the owners are beyond charismatic.

    Cons

The stigma of working within the adult industry with management who does not reward, nor encourage, mature behavior. They aspire to have the structure of a genuine international manufacturer, but they conduct themselves too poorly to have a true presence as a valid company.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to acknowledge your staff without inspiring a sense of fear; the loss of their job at any second. Mean what you say, and say what you mean. Also acknowledge the staff (such as HR) who are working hard to build this company into a genuine company; not a boys club that happens to have some money. If you are going to say that you are hiring people more intelligent than yourselves, then have the sense listen to them.
