Cons

Lack Management attention in key area, PM support is very limited on many programs, each function manager not involve too much in the customer relation

Advice to Management

Better resource planning and focus more on people, need more PM support on program instead on relying engineering, need more communication with customer to give clear direction to each functional group on customer requirement

    Pros

Flextronics offers quite a bit of opportunity for growth and development for those who earn it. I've been promoted twice in 2.5 years. They also offer many global project teams for employees to participate in. That said, it's not in a clear, career-mapping, kind-of way. Usually, promotions seem to be a result of an individuals hard work.

    Cons

The biggest downside is the amount of time spent working at Flextronics. A 40-hour work week would be a vacation. Flextronics is pretty flexible about working from home at times (not preferred) when you have sick children or appointments. But most workers (not just managers) put in a lot of hours each week.

    Advice to Management

More communication. The CEO is out-going. Employees like hearing from him. More communication from him directly would be good.

    Pros

Relative to other large public companies, there is a good level of flexibility (systems, approvals, etc) to allow people to get their job done. Collaboration among team members is also healthy.

    Cons

I see too much dead weight (employees not adding enough value to company) which is tolerated and allowed to continue. At the same time high performers are not rewarded enough. Generally a much better results-based performance system is needed within the company.

    Advice to Management

After new strategic processes / systems are 'deployed', ensure they are actually implemented and maintained (as intended), by holding management in the GM / VP range accountable.
