Advice to Management

10. EGALITARIANISM AND UNITY
In our company, we believe that each individual should have equal privileges and rights. In Leisure and Corporate, in Australia and overseas, and in organically grown and acquired businesses, there should be no ‘them and us’.

I have been working at Flight Centre Travel Group full-time

    Pros

Lots of fun people and the building is amazing.

There are opportunities to move around the company for you

People care for their jobs, their teams, and the company

    Cons

No raises for cost of living so your salary is set.

Have to perform above and beyond and hope for a promotion in order to get a raise

    Advice to Management

Cost of living raises would provide more incentive to stay and not be receptive to other opportunities outside

  2. "Interesting work and fun culture, but disconnected upper management"

I worked at Flight Centre Travel Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Individual team atmosphere, so you can always find a team that suits you
    - Great commission potential if you work hard -- and are lucky!
    - Fairly quick promotions, so room for personal growth

    Cons

    - Disconnected upper management -- they don't have a good sense of what it's like for the salespeople day to day and the policies reflect that
    - Low base salary
    - Since the base salary is set for everyone, the only room for salary growth (other than changing positions) is by earning more commission. There isn't much incentive for employees to stay with the company for a long time.

    Advice to Management

    - Find a way to reward longtime employees through salary that is not dependent on performance -- perhaps some sort of loyalty bonus?
    - I think it would be great if upper management had a better idea of what it's like for the standard employee... We should do a swap where the management spends time in the stores! Also, get more input from employees (some sort of focus group) on new policies.
