Pros

Within pockets of Flowserve there are GREAT supervisors. There are wonderful opportunities to excel and to learn a lot of business skills. FPD, or the Pumps division is probably the very best area to work in as it will provide the best opportunities to grow and the most opportunities to move within the organization. Of all the divisions, the leadership in FPD is the strongest and most experienced. Tom Ferguson, the president of FPD has come up through the ranks, even being the president of FSD at one point, and knows how to treat his people. FCD, however, is quite fragmented and is rowing in four different directions, beware. FSD is the golden child, being small and nimble.

Cons

There are an incredible amount of incapable leaders at Flowserve. Some are even executives that have even their bosses fooled.

Advice to Management

Lew needs to ask himself what his front line people do. Some are incredibly important. Others are incredibly incompetent and he needs to find out which are which.

I have been working at Flowserve full-time

    Pros

It has its ups and downs. There great pay, great benefits, lots of opportunities for training, safety is a priority for the company. Company has done a great job about making cuts without having to lose employees

    Cons

but I think opportunity for moving up in the company takes a long time. Superficial recognition is given for hard work. It is not given with great benefits or shown in the pay.

    Advice to Management

Don't have employees work on their own development plan to get a promotion. It shown in the work they have done, and in the pmp that they put together. Now we have to write autobiographys about our work, very uncomfortable about doing this, and feels very unappreciated.
