I have been working at Fluke Networks full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

The people make all the difference. Higher percentage of good decent workers/managers than most companies I have worked for.

Cons

Layoffs happen all too often. Usually unexpected and wider reaching than they should be. I didn't notice too many managers getting let go in the last round...

    Pros

The company is a leader in their field and encourage the employees to be leaders, too. It is a technology focused company that is usually ahead of what is coming. Career growth is certainly there if you are talented and that is what you are looking for.

    Cons

While a large core of the company has come from acquisitions of startups, the body of the company seems to have settled into middle age. The employees are certainly knowledgeable and some even experts in their areas, there doesn't seem to be the passion and drive to always produce the greatest products possible. Management tries to help this along by applying lean manufacturing techniques to creative development, but that just adds to the bureaucratic mess. I don't mean this to sound overly negative, as the products produced are still very good and the work atmosphere is collegial and supportive, but I think some of the drive and passion that was once there has gone missing. Danaher tries to take a hands off approach to management, but still seems to have a day to day presence felt.

In terms of compensation, the median is also the norm, as management tracks it against the market and tries to be just higher than average.

    Advice to Management

Reevaluate how product development is done with regards to the large number of products that FNet develops and supports as legacy.

    Pros

There was a good atmosphere with nice team members
Overtime was being paid as well as other benefits such as transport allowance.
Many events are organised which makes it fun and bond with your team.

    Cons

Very rigid organisation with strict SOPs difficult to take own initiatives to suit the client.
