I have been working at Follett full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of new and young people coming in.

    Cons

Don't expect fair treatment. Expect bullying and belittling by senior management. Be careful HR protects the company and not the working employees. I was being bullied by a senior VP and complained and met with HR on going for a year when they finally said I was newer with the company and i should find a new job because senior management would not be asked to change or stop.

Same Senior VP was treating an African American woman so badly and she got so frustrated she threatened to kill everyone in the department.... She was allowed to keep working and HR and Senior Management agreed to ignore her threats of bodily harm to everyone in the department. Eventually her position was eliminated she was fired, then they rehired a new person for the same position giving it a new title. Once again no care for the well being of the working employees.

    Advice to Management

Senior Mgrs should retire already, and your HR department needs lots of work.

I worked at Follett full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Excellent health care packages
Home office communicates regularly with stores to achieve a baseline knowledge of the industry

    Cons

Since textbooks are a dying industry, there is little financial growth and consequently little room for advancement
Plethora of part-time positions available sporadically about 4 months of the year during busy seasons after which you're unlikely to be scheduled more than 10 hours a week
    Excessive micromanagement
Home office communicates entirely too much
The store management's outlook ranged from average to frustrated
