I worked at Forest City Enterprises full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Established, stable company.
People have very, very long careers here (also a con)
Very family-oriented place, managers are understanding and compassionate.
I always felt spoiled here. Good tuition reimbursement program (4k/year) and other benefits.

Cons

Things move slowly at Forest City.
Managemnet is indecisive on taking action.
Salaries seem stagnant
Company has been cutting costs
Reputation is solid in Property Management arena, but not very well known outside of the industry.

I worked at Forest City Enterprises full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Family owned company. Loved working downtown on Public Square.

    Cons

I worked within IT and it seemed that all the men got promoted and were able to go to conferences to further their knowledge while the women were held back.

There was also lots of pressure to give money to the United Way. You would get hate emails if you didn't participate. The office suite that I was in at the time was very outdated and old.

You also have to pay approx $80 / month for parking and have to walk awhile to get to your office.

    Advice to Management

Be sure to give everyone the opportunities for advancement and career development. More discounts on the parking.

I worked at Forest City Enterprises part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Driving the kids on the train was a WONDERFUL experience! They all became adopted grandchildren for me and I always looked forward to going to work. The repeat passengers were extra special!

    Cons

My score would not have been as high if based on management alone. Some management personnel were very helpful and caring, but the mall manager was an ass. There's no other way to say it. When he was there, everything was his way or the highway. Very much a control freak!

    Advice to Management

Fire the mall manager and promote the assistant to his position. He knows how to relate to customers, clients and employees!
