I have been working at Fred Meyer full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Good company, benefits after time, hard work can sometimes pay off.

Cons

You have to fight for hours, the union they are with isn't the greatest, receiving area is pathetic.

    Pros

Great structure, good compensation, awesome culture and professional development.

    Cons

Some senior management seems to put an emphasis on social status compared to professional merit when considering promotion opportunities.

I have been working at Fred Meyer full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits if you have enough hours per month to qualify. The workers in the stores are generally friendly and we all become a relatively close knit group.

    Cons

Was a better company to work for before Kroger took over. Hardly anyone is ever hired full time - you have to work there forever to get a full time job. More and more "programs" to implement yet no more hours to do it in.

    Advice to Management

You have too many Chiefs and not enough Indians. Communication to stores and departments is lacking. Products are discontinued without notification to stores. New items are brought in and then they are impossible to order. Products that are dogs take forever to get ride of. Not enough autonomy in products for stores with different clientele.
