I worked at Freddie Mac full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Loyal employees, loyal customers. Allowed to work from home minimum 2 days a week, employees get to choose the days.

Cons

Some management have bigheads, forget their jobs and treat employees like numbers. Never praised for good work done. Have chosen employees for all special projects. Don't all senior employees to move up.

Advice to Management

Teat all direct reports the same, give all employees an opportunity to work on special projects.

I have been working at Freddie Mac full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Great Work Life Balance
    - Decent Pay (i think)
    - Great benefits
    - Good experience to have on resume

    Cons

    - High Turnover, local recruiters will tell you that Freddie easily fires or creates a brain-drain
    - Aging employee base, not the greatest place for 20-somethings
    - Transparency & Accountability
    - Hard to get promoted in a group

    Advice to Management

    (1) I think the firm needs to look into hiring more young professionals that could bring different experiences, approaches and innovations. The current employee base is older and has been working for Freddie for years, so this doesn't allow the firm to reach its highest potential.

    (2) More transparency needs to be shown as well as accountability.

I worked at Freddie Mac as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Management supports new ideas and allows people to work overtime (with pay) as long as deadlines are met.
They have a good selection of food at the cafeteria too. :)

    Cons

Security are not customer friendly. They are more conscious in checking badges. They wanted the employees and contractors to stretch out their badges and show it to their faces.

    Advice to Management

Shuffle the employees, including the security personnel. They get too relax on their position. They tend to forget the real reason of the institution which is to help the American people secure their well deserve houses.
