I have been working at Freescale Semiconductor full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

The people are some of the friendliest I have ever worked with. All the people that are left are hard working and multi-talented. The company runs like a small business with a free-for-all mentality. If you are driven, you are free to do as much as you want across barriers. There is such a lack of management we have to survive on our own. Your groups success depends on your effort with little contribution from the thin management, If you don't like managers then this is the company for you.

Cons

Don't expect any bonuses if you are a workaholic. You will get no extra anything for killing yourself. There is a lack of structure across the design teams. The company up to this point has been run like a holding company. Rumor has it that's about to change.

I have been working at Freescale Semiconductor full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good work/life balance. Talented and knowledgeable colleagues. Nice peers to work with.

    Cons

Senior management has their heads stuck up their a$$. Clueless, self-preserving, obnoxious, no strategy or direction. Only care about their compensation and short-term goals.

    Advice to Management

Your PEOPLE are your best asset. Give them good, challenging work to do. Less red tape. Really CARE about your people.

I have been working at Freescale Semiconductor full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

A lot of dedicated hard working itelligent people. Friendly work enviornment. Flexible work schedule for salaried employees, depending on manager.

    Cons

A lot of uncertainty in the past several years with many rounds of layoffs has added some stress but apears to be improving. Less flexible schedule for hourly shift workers and after some of the layoffs they tend to have brought people back as temps and not offerring them any benefits.

    Advice to Management

When making cutbacs start at the top and cut out a lot ofthe perks that upper management has been abusing.
