I worked at Freescale Semiconductor full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Today, the company is really structured for fresh-outs. A fresh-out will learn a lot

    Cons

Project Management has been instituted to the point that free thinking is pretty much not allowed. You must follow the "process" without differing, or suffer the consequences. An experienced engineer will be frustrated. Promotions are hard to come by. Many jobs have been moved overseas (China).

    Advice to Management

Too many dead-end jobs have been created in the last 10 years, through consolidation.

I have been working at Freescale Semiconductor full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Big budgets for equipment
    Talented people to work with.
    Good weather.
Excellent time off and very little requirements to get anything done.

    Cons

They are chasing the competition instead of inventing new products.
They do not know anything about software, but they think they do.
They are terrible at providing customer support.
They use legal devices to try and defeat the competition instead of competing honestly.
Management is very very very bad.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to sell software that you don't know anything about.
