I worked at Fresenius Medical Care full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

For the most part Fresenius is a very stable, and well-run company with decent management and very good reputation within the medical community...at least amongst those people who have heard of them.

    Cons

There is a reason why Fresenius is losing market share to DaVita. There is no focus, strategic planning or will to follow through in terms of attracting potential new patients and referral sources.

Fresenius focuses heavily on technology advancement, but tends to ignore the "human element" of dialysis care. The company does very little to invest in the future in terms of branding or corporate awareness. As a result, their primary method of growth is through the acquisition of competitors.

Like all dialysis providers, they are struggling mightily in the face of healthcare reform due to bundling and changes in healthcare cost reimbursement. But as long as the stock price remains stable or on a upward trend, don't expect anything new from this company. People in the field like the company for the most part, but many avoid dealing with the corporate office like the plague.

    Advice to Management

Show some initiative and forward-thinking for a change. Focus more on the "human element" of care versus simply creating new techology.
