Pros

Technology integration is SUPERB! Access to current and latest technology is strong and evident on all levels of the organization -- from the classrooms to the executive leadership team.

Cons

Poor leadership; ever-shifting priorities and direction; lack of follow thru by leadership; lots of plan no follow thru or execution of the plan; focus is on enrollment not student needs

Advice to Management

Choice 2 or 3 priorities; over communicate the priorities; hold ALL levels of employees accountable for outcomes -- not just teachers or "outcasts".

I worked at Friendship Public Charter School as a contractor

    Pros

I initially applied for a different position, but was offered a summer school teaching position. Decent pay, but less than public school. Pretty much left to do my own thing.

    Cons

Hiring process was not clear. No real behavior management. No real resources. Teachers who work year round seem to have little job security.

    Advice to Management

Instructional goals should be more clear and open.

I worked at Friendship Public Charter School full-time

    Pros

I cannot think of a single pro for this unethical and poorly run charter school. My hope is that they are shut down by the Public Charter Board.

    Cons

FPCS is a poorly run organization that lacks systems and organization. Their test scores speak for themselves with as low as 0% proficiency at some locations. Students are not learning or being cared for at these terrifying schools. The schools are dangerous for children, teachers, and staff members. The administration mistreats staff members. The organization is run by arrogant and unqualified individuals who manage by threatening to fire the hard working staff. They are ungrateful and always require more than the contract outlines from teachers. The payscale follows no guidelines. Teachers who they fear will leave they will pay $20,000 more a year to convince them to stay. Teachers who they do not fear will leave they will continue to pay small amounts. Teachers who reach the top of the pay scale will be let go to make room in the budget for 2 unqualified teachers who are cheaper. The school does an egregious disservice to students with IEP's. I witnessed students who had been in Friendship schools since Pre K, but could not read. Please do not work at this school or send your child to this school.

    Advice to Management

Put systems into place. Treat teachers with respect, and show the gratitude. Follow the law. Care more about children than your organization.
