Pros

Excellent opportunities for outside vendors to make a fortune with incompotent Directors and Managers who don't know what they're doing and have excess budget to spend.

Cons

Incompetent and self-serving leadership at the Director and Vice President levels. This place is a classic stovepipe organization. Ship is beginning to sink.

Advice to Management

Stop stealing. Resign and leave - oh wait, no one will hire you.

    Pros

You get to work on advanced technology (ROADM, OTN, Data services). You have some latitude in how you execute your work. Acceptance of new process ideas.

    Cons

Overtime is expected for some disciplines. Engineering/planning are very silo'd. No clear communications what the customer is really looking for in a product. Very political; some managers/directors very protective of their turf, at times to the detriment of the company.

    Advice to Management

Directors should be in more working meetings (cross discipline meetings) to ensure their goals are being met and to see their team in action. Some would be very surprised about their team's performance.
