Pros

There is a good community atmosphere at Future Publishing and it is easy to make friends with colleagues.
The offices are nice and well maintained, so you feel very comfortable in your environment.

Cons

It's pot luck on what type of manager you'll have and many of them are not interested in helping to develop their team. The job role of 'Editor' is considered an illustrious position where you don't have to do much work, and is generally only earned by people who have been in the company many years, rather than young up-starts who may have new, fresh and innovative ideas.
There is also a 'boys club' atmosphere on many magazines, which makes women feel intimidated and pushed out.

Advice to Management

Management need to appreciate the work that their team does and recognise it. Often many editors take recognition for work that isn't theirs and won't pass on praise to others.

Very casual work envrionment, dress code pretty much didn't exist. Lots of interaction between differetn magazines.

Not too much room for growth, as it is still a pretty small company. Also there were a lot of budget cuts, and job cuts.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the creative side of your company, they are the ones that are going to appeal to the consumer, and they should be allowed to take pride in their work.
