    I have been working at G2 full-time

    Pros

Free lunch 4x a week, but that's just a ploy to keep you in the office and working more.

    Cons

Revenue matters more than employees well being, health, or lives outside of G2. Leadership sets revenue goals for employees that are not yet hired, not based on empirical evidence on how to recreate success and hit quotas, just on a whim of what they want to see. Existing employees are expected to carry these revenue goals for the not-yet-hired, and new hires are rushed through training and given a quota without time to learn. It's a very toxic environment, filled with stress coming from management who are being told by leadership that quotas need to be hit, but without a clear path on how to achieve these numbers. The product offerings are great, and I hear other other teams are happier, but steer clear of a sales job here...unless you like micro-management, not having a life outside work, and barely seeing your friends/family.

    G2 Response

    September 23, 2019

Thank you for your thoughtful review of G2. We are very proud of the company and the culture we are building here. In considering your review, it is helpful to understand your point of view on work-life balance so thank you for sharing. We are a fast moving start-up organization that is trying to balance hiring, growing our business, and retaining both great employees and our incredible culture. It's important to check in and make sure that we are also providing balance between our employees work and personal lives as well. We admit that we have aggressive goals in both hiring and revenue growth as we continue to build the business. That said, the feedback on how these goals impact the individuals on our team is something that we are carefully considering as we plan for future quarters and fiscal years. We absolutely need engaged, happy and productive team members if we are to hit our aggressive goals! If you would be willing, it would be great to connect with you personally to understand the issues called out here in more detail. Please reach out to the Employee Success team internally and we will schedule a time with you to speak further. -Godard Abel (CEO and Co-Founder)

I have been working at G2 full-time for less than a year

    Pros

G2 has mastered the community and culture aspect of going to work and truly enjoying who you're working with and where you get to work every day. G2 allows you to be an entrepreneur in your role, encourages you to challenge the status quo, and is overall a really fun place to work.

    Cons

I believe their pay bands are slightly off for what a typical role may see elsewhere. I'm hoping this will change as we're now a rapidly growing 'start up'. They put a heavy focus on the perks available to you as part of your compensation, but as someone who doesn't necessarily use all the perks, I'd rather have the option to be compensated appropriately.

    I worked at G2 full-time

    Pros

Free lunch. Genuinely well meaning and kind peers. Don't have to stay at your desk.

    Cons

A ton. I started out thinking G2 was a great place to break into the industry, and even though there were people that were ready and excited to help me learn, there seemed to be a road block at every corner. - Internal communication between teams is abysmal, and often times within teams isn't great either. Many teams didn't know what other teams did. People mixed up Research and Content Marketing daily. No one understood clearly what sales was doing since numbers were consistently not hit. - The CEO making some offensive joke was a routine event, and every team lead is a master in making excuses for each comment. - The sad attempt at diversity and inclusion ended up making people more angry. It also made people aware the company cares more about how it looks diverse, rather than caring about truly diversifying their workforce. - Worked in a position with no clear position responsibilities for 6 months because they were "exploring internal career paths" for over a year. - If you don't drink the koolaid, you're left far behind. There are better, less toxic startups in Chicago you should try for, give G2 a pass.
