Approves of CEO

I have been working at GE Aviation full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Huge company, numerous opportunities, tremendous learning experience, global cooperation and mindset, relatively competitive pay

Cons

Complex corporate structure and processes, tough to push through creative ideas, slow promotion, slow salary increase, aggressive culture

Advice to Management

Need to foster a fair culture, need to treat, respect and recognize experienced folks well and stop losing long term veterans, need to set up a good mechanism to turn over unqualified leaders, need to simplify processes and be more inclusive to better drive competitiveness and innovation

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at GE Aviation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Dynamic global industry. Ability to reach across multiple functions and contribute equally. Aside from the healthcare coverage very good comp and benefits. Process focused work culture. Strong volunteerism but only for GE sponsored events.

    Cons

Leadership is the wrong term - it is management. Plenty of managers but few leaders. Not very welcoming and friendly to those who come into GE Aviation from the outside (external hires) or even from other GE businesses. Extremely limited opportunity to advance unless you rise up and enter through Corporate Audit Staff. Meritocracy GE is not.

    Advice to Management

Bring in outside perspective and shake up the existing "system" for promoting.

    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I worked at GE Aviation as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Mid-to-High range salary for some positions.
    Moderately clean office environment.

    Cons

For Contractors: No lateral or vertical movement in position. Things are slow to happen with the large corporate environment - took over a month to get my laptop and on-boarding. Contractors are treated as if they are second-class citizens, GE clerical staff fight with contractors over petty things like the use of coffee and office supplies.

    Advice to Management

Quit the office politics; respect the people that work for/under you & help foster an environment of trust and mutual co-operation.
