Disapproves of CEO

I worked at GE Capital full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

GE invests a great deal in their people via training; the company carries a great name recognition

Cons

I was part of its Experienced Commercial Leadership Program at GE Capital. Program management did not know what to do with top B school grads who sought responsibility, team management, and an intellectually rewarding career.

Advice to Management

Learn from other, perhaps smaller companies who do a great job elevating people with the right skill sets and attitudes. Make it truly about performance versus perception management.

    Pros

Values the professional development of employees
Provides job rotation opportunities for non-exampt employees looking to gain the required experience to move into management
Supports incentive programs that allow employees to recognize co-workers for going above and beyond
    Hires from within
Cultivates internal talent with personalized training and certification opportunities

    Cons

Working up through the ranks may put the individual at a salary disadvantage when compared to a co-worker within the same role who was an external hire
