I have been working at GE Healthcare full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good people. Excellent flexibility. Decent benefits, although the health insurance package is not as good as it used to be. It's not as cut-throat as it used to be, but it is demanding.

    Cons

No true technical career path in IT. Although they've been making noise about it for 10 years, they have yet to actually create technical executive positions at GE Healthcare. Other GE businesses are starting to put them in place, but not at Healthcare. Can you deal with a huge bureacracy? Can you deliver a project on time, on budget, even though none of the resources will report to you? You'll do fine. Regulatory validation was overdone, so there is huge overhead on all IT projects.

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes to the industry. Not all best practice originate internally. Pay attention to customers, don't wait until revenue is threatened (or declining) to make changes. Put your money where your mouth is: promote some technical folks.
