I have been working at GE Healthcare as a contractor (More than a year)

Pros

Almost no overtime; some people are real pros; as long as you don't care about doing something that makes a difference, this is the place for you

Cons

Some of the managers are real fags (not mine, so be lucky); politics in the upper layer, business decisions are driven by politics, weak ass kissers screw up the position of their teams for their own good; too much dependency between teams and products; some teams just don't ship and even if they do, you wish that they don't

Advice to Management

Fire the slackers and idiots and sociopaths. Which includes the senior management.

I have been working at GE Healthcare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Intelligent people who work hard, and will try and solve all problems. Decent starting level salaries but quickly lag the market. People are typically helpful and do what they say.

    Cons

Too much bureaucracy because of the complexity of the portfolio. Too many middle layers which can have a direct impact on your career and development if you're unlucky. Apparent disconnect between communicated culture and the behavior of leadership. Some areas of the company could use a significant top level shake-up because of repeated failures with little consequences.

    Advice to Management

Operational rigor & process can't replace an inspirational vision and leadership.

I have been working at GE Healthcare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

wide range of tasks and duties and you can always ask to try different things if you get bored. Assisted on big projects to get an idea of what it is like to work on majors projects.

    Cons

Job security is an issue at the moment due to recent redundancies and recruitment freeze. As an intern, you have to apply externally for Leadership programs as they look at the internal resume for those applying from within.

    Advice to Management

Take advantage of current interns with regards to recruitment as they have had exposure to the culture and processes. they will not need as much training as those hired externally.
