I have been working at GE full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Management listens to employees and seem to honestly want feedback. There are a lot of opportunities for growth and advancement. The company is very willing to send you to training classes that target the career goals you have in mind. You will most likely get Six Sigma and Leadership training within the first 1 to 2 years of being on the job. Also may opportunities for technical training if you speak with your manager.

Cons

Sometimes it may seem as if you have more than one job.

Advice to Management

Provide a better benefits package.

I worked at GE as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

lots of coworkers in my age group- low to mid 20s
organized lots of activities for us to get to know people- great if you were new to the area
encouraged employees to seek out information about what is going on in GE as a whole through numerous presentations
gave us tours of NBC studios, the GE headquarters, and organized lots of lunch and learns

    Cons

the program manager was rarely present through the internship and four people who never really knew you before a final interview made a decision whether to offer you a full time position- no real input from your assignment boss

    Advice to Management

have your boss who gives you assignments play a bigger role in deciding whether you get a full time position in the ITLP program
