    Advice to Management

I think you are well aware of it, but a lot of people have left in recent years. GE Aviation has a large experience gap between the 15+ yrs of exp and the 0-5 yrs. Its the 5+ years of exp folks who are leaving, and a lot of the ones who remain are discontent. Right now its not a good situation to be in. A lot of my colleauges have left. Its very simple, and no retention committee will spell it out for you clearer. Pay people what they deserve and they will stay.

Your salary surveys lie to you. Now that I've seen a couple other companies from the inside, I can tell you that every company uses the same salary surveys to reach the same conclusion: "we are paying our employees at slightly above the average for similar companies". Its just not true. Someone must be manipulating the data, because I have worked at similar positions at three companies in the same industry doing similar work. GE pay is far and away the worst of the three, yet HR says they pay at a rate slightly above the industry averages. Coincidentally, each of the other three companies reached the same conclusion but at a higher pay rate.
