I worked at GGP full-time (More than a year)

Pros

The company makes it easy for you to connect with other employees within GGP, so access to people and information is relatively simple.

Cons

The company was definitely spreading itself thin in regards to the on-site accounting positions. It would have helped if there was more visibility beyond just the property you were working for.

Advice to Management

Make sure that your staff, especially those in management type roles, are knowledgeable about their areas of expertise. Have a way for the General Manager of the property to oversee different departments to ensure quality.

"Great company to work for pre 2008, New GGP cares more about revenue than it's people"

    Pros

    Good benefits plan at GGP

    Cons

Unfortunately the new executive team does not care about their employees and the little work life balance that was left went out the window when they came on board. Most departments are vastly understaffed and it is not uncommon to hear people working 60+ hours a week. It has been a year and a half since GGP emerged from bankruptcy and the dust has not settled yet. CEO continues to make organizational changes, further extending the low morale.

    Advice to Management

    Care more about your people.

"Used to be a company I was proud to be a part of. Now, gravely concerned about current corporate philosophy & direction."

    Pros

Hints of former corporate culture still exist.

    Cons

Current corporate culture is one based in distrust and fear. Former Company core values of teamwork, integrity, honesty, etc have been shattered and plan to "flatten" the organization has only resulted in departments operating in bigger silos. Collaboration between departments is not encouraged and open communication has been lost. Employee strengths are not valued. And there is no sch thing as an open door policy with the new executive team.

    Advice to Management

Do not assume you are an expert in every aspect of the business. Trust the strengths and experience of your employees and let them do what they do best and be open to hearing differences of opinion and new ideas. Do not insult the intelligence of your employees by pretending to be pro- employee.
