Approves of CEO

I have been working at GGP full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Many changes for the better post-bankrupcy. Although rocky at the start, the CEO seems to be steering the ship in the right path, promoting steady growth and healthy company culture.

Cons

Been pigeon-holed in the same position for 5+ years, with little opportunity for upward mobility. Middle management in certain departments are unapproachable and unsupportive.

Advice to Management

Get out of your office and learn the names of your subordinates.

I worked at GGP full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Prior to 2008, fantastic company to work for - great managers, coworkers and interesting projects. Firm made every effort to make workers feel welcomed, good growth opportunities.

    Cons

Post 2008, or the beginning of bankruptcy, the ugly side of management revealed itself. Lack of communication - employees resulted to looking at google alerts and financial news to see if the company was still open. Fear began to creep into the culture which ended up with huge layoff of the workforce.

    Advice to Management

Maintain good communication lines with employees which would quell 80% of uncertainty and fears. Middle managers start making bad decisions and tempers become short when people do not know if they have a job to come back to in the coming weeks.

"Chameleon company too much concerned about its external image. Massive layoffs a NORM."

I worked at GGP full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Hard to speak of pros when all you can think of are cons. The only pros -- some of the people still working there (NOT senior level employees).

    Cons

Every corporation likes to preach about its core values of honesty, teamwork, trust, etc., including GGP. Sadly, at this company these core values have lost their true meaning, and have started sounding only too superficial and false since a few year back. Right now all GGP Senior Level cares about is the company's image, and hardly its people and their hard work. It takes them nothing to lay somebody off without a sufficient reason. "Company Restructuring" hardly does it anymore. No one working at GGP right now can have any confidence in the long-term future there. Anyone could be gone tomorrow.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to what you are doing to employees. Massively laying people off without a proper explanation does not project a good image and reputation for the company.
