    Pros

GKn is a relatively stable company, and the Aerospace industry is very specialized and skill based. For these reasons, I do not see jobs being outsourced. The company does offer competitive salaries and benefits at the outset of employment. Once in the organization, raises are a pittance. The company culture is very European and financially driven. If you can work your way up to a certain level of management, then it seems like you woould be respected by upper management. But if you are not at a manger level, you are not given much respect. Not going to win any employer of the year awards, but I have worked for worse companies.

    Cons

The European culture is very layered and the company requires approvals at every level. Absolutely no decisions are made at the plant level. Englishmen are definitely favored for promotions. Work-life balance is not respected as salaried employees routinely work 12 hour days. Management recently had to institute a policy of 12 hours maximum in a day, because an employee at another facility fell asleep driving home after a 16 hour work day. Upper level management is expected to be available pretty much around the clock since it is a global company. Employee morale is low because employees are not respected by the management team.

    Advice to Management

Respect and empower your employees. Many of these employees have been doing there jobs for several years and have the ability to make decisions without have to have a manager hold their hand.
