I worked at GameStop part-time (More than a year)

Pros

- Generally working at GameStop means you applied because you love videogames.
- Co-workers all share similar interests.
- Employee Discount.
- Some of the "usual" customers are

Cons

- Low wage retail job
- Had a strict uniform policy, I heard this changed recently but not sure by how much.

    I worked at GameStop full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Fun working environment. You get paid to talk about video games with people.
    Nice employee discount.
    Benefits for both full and part time employees are very good.
    Game check out program saves you a lot of money and makes it so you can know your product better.
    The company does it's best to evolve with the industry.
    If you work hard, and follow policy, you will get promoted.

    Cons

    Very high pressure sales. Not a good place to work if you can't handle this.
    Unless you are management, chances are you won't be steadily employed. Very little hours are available to go around to part timers.
    For the type of performance they want, they really do pay very little.
    Fairly high turnover rate in management.
    Inconsistent employee coaching system - seems very arbitrary at times.

    Advice to Management

    Offer actual incentives to employees for sales performance.
    A better management training system would help prevent the extremely high turnover rate in that area.
    Better pay for store managers may help you retain more quality people.

    Open minded workforce, lots of new technology and opportunity

    Cons

    Questionable red tape, to much mid level management

    Advice to Management

    Reevaluate some of the legacy strategies and the break neck pace decisions are made made you great but is also holding you back
