I have been working at GameStop full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Flexible schedule, mostly enjoyable products.

    Cons

Not a reasonable amount of payroll, salary = exploited, poor pay for comparable retail work, accountability w/out sense of ownership.

    Advice to Management

GameStop DMs/RDs continued obsessiveness of reserves/memberships makes for an awkward retail management experience. Tasks/responsibilities often outweigh resources, meaning the poor sucker stuck on salary (store manager) gets stuck dealing with it. After having been a store manager, I would not go back to it, as corporate mandates/DM micromanagement force accountability for elements of work that I had no true sense of ownership.

I worked at GameStop full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fun job, if you enjoy games.
    Decent discount.
Pretty low stress most of the time.

    Cons

Forced to act as if on commission, without getting commission; the only reward is keeping your job.
Mindlessly trying to get people to reserve things and buy a magazine substitution. It is very apparent that it annoys people very much.
You're only worth what you make. The COMPANY does not make you feel like you're a part of a team, but you can feel like one within your own store.

    Advice to Management

Respect your employees more. You guys are oblivious about what goes on in your stores. The disconnect from store employees to the District Manager is HUGE, and that's only one level about their Store Manager.
