Fantastic job, fun, discounts are decent.

Cons

Pay is considerable, and moving up is kind of hard, unless you transfer stores.

    Pros

Fun atmosphere. Fun products. Great support from district manager. Large company so relocation is possible. Trade-in program ensures repeat business.

    Cons

not enough staff and payroll hours to effectively cover the store, complete tasks, and provide good customer service. Regional and corporate support is lacking.

    Advice to Management

Too much accountability for the amount of support from corporate.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at GameStop part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Customers and amazing co-workers. Some will frankly be the highlight of your day. Working in retail is what you make it working with video games is rather cheerful. Decent benefits for part time employees.Various options for long term savings

    Cons

Our sells techniques were not only high pressure but encouraged tampering with numbers, and theft. The overwhelming pressure pushed good associates to do unfortunate things. All for a few paltry hours. Lower ranking management is given little or no payroll to accomplish task work. Leaving SM's to work well over 55 hrs a week regardless of one's station salary or not that was a distasteful practice.

    Advice to Management

Your employees work out of love for the business and sheer dedication. Treat them as one would a valued CEO or course within reason. But those on the front lines have worth. With the supposed focus on customer experience you need to keep the very best with the company. Listen to those doing the selling, they know what works and what fails.
