I worked at Gap part-time (More than a year)

Pros

- great clothing discounts on all three brands (ON, BR, Gap)
- easy work
- fun employees

Cons

- Gap's popularity declined and many of my favorite managers' positions were cut
- Became more profit driven
- Loss prevention was difficult because of store layout

I have been working at Gap part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Gap's atmosphere is totally different from many stores and a lot more comfortable. As a Sales Associate, you are there for the customer (styling, sizes, opinions, sales, etc.), rather than the department store equivalent where you are only there for the customer when they need help.

    Cons

Unfortunately, there is quite a lot of pressure to persuade (what may sometimes feel like force) the customer to open a Gap Credit Card, which is a lot harder than you think for different types of personalities.

    Advice to Management

Think of new ways to make opening Gap Cards fun. Gap Card training should be done when the store is open to customers so employees can actually see Leaders open Gap Cards rather than telling associates what to do.

I worked at Gap part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-great discount, 50% at The Gap and Banana Republic, 30% at Old Navy

    Cons

    -extremely over staffed
-not enough hours due to so many employees
-merchandise was frequently moved around, making it difficult to know where stuff was for a new person who doesn't get frequent shifts.
-in store training was almost non-existant, I was taught how to check inventory in passing, nothing formal.
