I have been working at Garland Independent School District full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

TONS of schools, which means TONS of teachers -- but you still feel connected and a part of the GISD family.
Facilitators and Coordinators are very involved.

Cons

As a younger teacher, I am often asked to take on extra responsibilities on top of the MASSIVE amount of work I already have to do.

    Pros

The staff is supportive of the substitute teachers. It can be quite challenging to teach middle school and high school students, but a very rewarding experience too. There is a retirement plan for the substitute teachers.

    Cons

This is not a self-supportive income so you will need to get employed quickly as a teacher. You are not paid for holidays or summer break. This was a demanding job so you will need a healthy energy level.

    Advice to Management

The cost of obtaining a teacher certification was too expensive for me. It should be less costly to obtain a teacher certification.
