Pros

Put in some time here and your rep will improve -- fortunately most outsiders don't see what's going on behind closed doors. If you have viable options, take them -- or look at Gartner as a way-station along the way. People do sometimes come back -- and then, often leave again because of the idiocy.

Cons

You're told to manage your time better if the shifting priorities make it necessary to, for example, reschedule a deliverable. Then you're faulted for missing the original deadline. Upper management is laughing all the way to the bank, and mid-management just follows the company line and can't rationalize what is irrational here. The morale is poor; people compete rather than cooperate. But the pay and benefits are good.

Advice to Management

Time for a refresh in how management treats production, sales, research, consulting, events....

    Pros

Gartner's willingness to encourage professionals with "no limit mindsets" makes for an amazing cultural experience. The ability to create your own destiny while working with some of the best overall talent in SWFL makes Gartner an amazing place to start, grow and finish your career.

    Cons

Set salary for inside sales. (However, the commission and bonus structure more than makes up for it)

I have been working at Gartner full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent benefits, generous amount of PTO and well-respected brand

    Cons

Not enough growth potential (career or financial), very micro-managed, they are hiring in less and less experienced Client Partners at lower salaries and so the level of professional experience in the Client Partner Group is declining.

    Advice to Management

Teach your VPs how to act when at a company outing in public. For example, on one of our last outings a VP in the HTTP group LOST his cell phone and then accused people of stealing it. He made the amusement park we were at ask all of their employees if they stole his iPhone. It was mortifying to be associated with this type of behavior. Start checking the egos of your management and VPs.
