Pros

Ability to work with industry thought leaders, great management team, autonomy and sufficient direction to do what I do best, highly collaborative envirnoment, working with clients and industryc leaders, providing actionable advice and truly helping our customers. The opportunity for career growth is unbelievable, this truly can be a lifetime career choice (single employer). Ability to work in an intellectually challenging and learning and growth environment provides unparalled job satisfaction. Comraderie among employees and across business units is unmatched. Management truly cares about it's members and employees and subscribes to Gallop management practices vis a vis annual employee surveys. Best envirnoment I have ever worked in IT industry.

Cons

long hours and working weekends/holidays at times, but job satisfaction worth the investment.

    Pros

Benefits and time-off. Flexibility to work from home or remote locations. Good working environment. They provide the technology to get the job done. There are also many opportunites to recieve training within and outside of Gartner. The develoment plans really help to pave a path for a fruitful career.

    Cons

Compensation growth for employees who have been with the company for a while is limited. Compensation increases seem very incremental as opposed to people who join from outside Gartner. Some middle management is inexperienced and can not make decision for themselves. They have a tendency to over promise without taking into account the full picture.

    Advice to Management

Why does Gartner compensate new workers entering the company better than those who have been loyal for a longer time?

    Pros

Brand second to none in the industry. Opportunity to work literally with the "best and the brightest" in IT in the world.

    Cons

Gartner Consulting still not sure what it wants to be when it grows up -- gets much less corporate attention than Research.

    Advice to Management

Understand the Consulting requires a different business model than Research. Contribution margins can never be close between "product" (Research) and "services" (Consulting). Tighter integration of Consulting and Research would benefit the company overall.
