I have been working at Gate Gourmet full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Great People, Great Business, Solid Values, Great 401K match

Cons

Benefits are expensive and company doesn't provide short term or long term disability coverage [you have the option to elect it], no work/life balance, no tuition reimbursement, raises/merits are a hit and miss, no bonus payout.

I worked at Gate Gourmet full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

you got lunch at a discount, and you meet lots of good people from around the globe.

    Cons

Management ran the work place like a natzi camp,Management caters to those that they like which was their own kind, from what I saw they try to get rid of the few minorities that work there which wasn't many in the first place, basically if you didn't speak spanish you had a target on your back, thankfully I had a rastafarian friend that understood them and would translate for me,the subliminal racism was undeniable,no room at all for advancement,no raises aside from the 5 cents you received after your 90 day probationary period till after 5 years

    Advice to Management

Treat those whose making you you big cheeks with Respect, pay them a decent liveble wage, share th wealth maybe people would stick around longer rather than the constant rollover.

I have been working at Gate Gourmet full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Gate Gourmet offer employees a good basket of corporate benefits and will give non-advertised benefits which are not readily available to others, providing employees agree to sign a non-disclosure note. Modern offices, some great staff, and good facilities with the exception of horrible coffee.

    Cons

Limited opportunity to for advancement, organization rarely promotes from within preferring external candidates. Arrogant executives who think they know more about customer desires than those on the front lines with customers. Poor strategy. Little to no market differentiation. I was awarded a pay rise and a bonus and then asked to lie to my direct reports, stating that due to poor results there was no money for them. Management mentality is old fashioned and out of date.

    Advice to Management

Flatten the structure, incorporate honesty, transparency and integrity into all elements of your business. Stating you have ethical values and principles is meaningless unless it becomes part of the organizational culture. Promote from within. Keep promises made to employees. Learn first to treat customers very well, and then adopt the same customer care principles when dealing with internal employees.
