I worked at Gaylord Hotels full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Gaylord had it right. They equipped you for your responsibilities, listened to your ideas and believed in a healthy balance of hard work and reward. Life balance wasn't just a cliche it was a way of life.

Cons

Marriott management - the true spirit of Gaylord left when they came in.

Advice to Management

Go back to the old Gaylord culture. That's what made it a successful company. Fire Marriott as the management team.

I worked at Gaylord Hotels full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Really great benefits. Great discounts and insurance available for purchase. Leaders that truely care about you and your life. The training was very thorough. They were great about working with my schedule.

    Cons

I did not not feel I made enough money throughout the entire year. Some times and seasons were busier than others and it is hard to know how much money you will make week to week. I felt I worked very hard for the tips I made and was not compensated well enough for the amount of side work I was expected to do.

    Advice to Management

The upper management did not get to know us very well. I was close with my general and assistant managers. I had waited on many upper level management that did not remember me from time to time.
