Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Genentech full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Generous benefits including perks like awesome gym and great cafeterias.

Cons

Poor work-life balance. Competitive environment (instead of collaborative). It has become bogged down in the corporate, profit-driven structure that is Roche. It used to be science and patient driven (and wildly profitable to boot).

Advice to Management

Spin Genentech back off as a stand alone company and attempt to return it to its former glory.

I have been working at Genentech full-time

    Pros

    - Good work environment
    - Good work-life balance
    - Good trainings are available

    Cons

    - Incompetent people are promoted as managers purely based on connections and not merit
    - Incompetent managers indulge in politics to cover up their incompetence

    Advice to Management

    - More transparency in promotions
    - The company values are great and there should be more checks on managers at the lower level if they are following the company values.
