Disapproves of CEO

Pros

- Pay is above industry average
- Internal training offered for Lean/5S/Six Sigma

Cons

- Expectation to perform two or three job functions in one role and a lack of understanding when this proves to be impossible at times
- Management inability to see the issues that keep plant under-performing (such as managers/supervisors hiding the issues instead of bringing them to light and correcting them once and for all).
- Promotion tracks based on company politics. If you upset the 'apple cart', you are doomed to your position no matter how well you perform nor how qualified you are.
- Company is more likely to hire from outside than to consider internal promotion for hard-working, well qualified employees.

Advice to Management

Take a hard look at the expectations that are given to your employees and stop overworking them. The lack of internal promotions for people who have struggled for YEARS in GCC is what drives the better employees away (I was one). Give back to your employees and they will return it ten-fold!

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

The pro's were the people in the group. They were very helpfull, and they encouraged you to go for it more in terms of finishing projects.

    Cons

Upper Managment didn't have the company very stable. It lead to the office being shut down. The cons was that the company laied off a lot of workers due to the move from Suffern, NY to Highland Heights, KY

    Advice to Management

You need to haveto have better upper management so that you don't kill the chemistry of the groups.

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Long history of business success. Company has a history of good pay and benefits. Supportive coworkers and flexible work arrangements.

    Cons

With company up for sale over the past two years in the worst economy ever experienced, Alcan Cable is trying to cost-cut their way to profitability.

    Advice to Management

Senior Management Team needs to develop a new strategic plan for retaining and growing the business to capitalize on the pending recovery and look beyond short-term cost-cutting solutions.
