I worked at General Dynamics Information Technology full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Access to a variety of programs and a network of experienced professionals in their fields.

Cons

While there were not many, you do work with personnel from across the country and sometimes you never get to meet them face to face.

Advice to Management

Communicate because you want to not because you have to.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at General Dynamics Information Technology full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of smart people working in a diverse set of government contract opportunities spanning HHS, DHS, DoD, DoEd, DoT, etc.

    Cons

Culture is very much "what have you done for me lately" with little to no emphasis on professional development or growth. Internal promotion is rare.

    Advice to Management

Build and develop bench strength to promote from within - it's more cost effective than constantly replacing people who leave because they have virtually no opportunity for advancement and/or growth.

I worked at General Dynamics Information Technology full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Adheres to professional work ethics and complies to defense contract policies.

    Cons

Need for younger senior management who are objective and really know their people. Stress more communication to employees about company business relating to the employee regarding length of employment, status of impending layoffs and job security.

    Advice to Management

Do not detach/distance yourself from your employees. Know your employees work ethics, resumes/background/military experience. "Taking care of your people," use to be important to General Dynamics. Try committing to that declaration, again. Less E-mail/letters and more face to face meetings with employees.
