I have been working at General Mills full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Everything about GMI is great!

Cons

Poor low level management (as is the case sometimes for such big companies) who doesn't develop those who seek to be developed. <------ This personal opinion applies to the only department (consumer services) I've worked in and seems to run very different from the rest of the company.

Advice to Management

Keep up the great work and keep training supervisors/managers to develop those employees who desire to be developed.

    Pros

Good benefits, a wide range of incentive programs, great advancement opportunities, and excellent people make this a great company to work for.

    Cons

The starting hourly wage is somewhat low compared to some other businesses in the area, but this is offset by a great selection of benefits.

    Advice to Management

Continue to raise up and empower leaders. Great job so far!

I worked at General Mills full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Your cross-functional team is stacked with smart, dedicated, hard-working people. It's also fun to work in food, since everyone has to eat! And if you want to learn how to be a brand manager, this is the place to do it.

    Cons

Time to promotion is very slow. Leadership doesn't communicate key decisions in a clear or timely manner. There isn't a huge tolerance for risk taking or new thinking.

    Advice to Management

Share the pain when making tough decisions. Those who are responsible for poor decisions should be held accountable, not protected.
