I worked at General Motors full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Responsibility - Trusted to do a real job with real customers.
Hands on engineering
Overtime
Testing next year's vehicles

Cons

Average Pay (although overtime opportunities are good)
Site buildings are terrible
Catering facilities awful

Advice to Management

Site officies require complete overhaul to enhance professionalism and attractiveness. Placement schemes are very good, and it is a friendly environment.

I have been working at General Motors full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

A lot of great people there as well as great resources. Once you learn how to network within the company there are many experts there that are more than willing to help. Also if you're willing to live in Michigan or move, there are lot's of options to move around to new/different jobs.

    Cons

Its a very big company and still learning how to become leaner and faster. They try to be more efficient but having "standardized global processes" ... but this can also make things slower and/or stiffle creativity and resourcefulness.

    Advice to Management

Need to unleash your strong performers more ... process focus is great but you also need to let your experts do things their way a bit more.
