Pros

The residents were pleasant to work and interact with

Cons

Advice to Management

Stop putting people on the don;t rehire list for no reason

I have been working at Genesis HealthCare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Co-workers that care about providing quality care to residents, good shift premiums. Maintenance workers that care and try to make repairs promptly.

    Cons

Very unclean environment, supply shortages, hostile management, greedy corporation, management's very careless regard for safety of residents; e.g. residents with same last name usually placed on same unit and same hall, removal of safety (wandering device) when resident is clearly at risk for wandering. Operating with decreased staffing. The list continues. . .

    Advice to Management

Stop bullying and harassing employees. Have a little regard for our residents and really care about keeping them safe. Listen to staff about residents, we know them best. Hire real housekeeping staff that can look around and see dirty floors, filthy toilets and clean it and hire enough staff in all areas. Stop using staff for multiple jobs that cannot be realistically accomplished in a normal workday. Staff fully and aggressively on all shifts. Upper management listen and solve problems instead of trying to deny the problems exist or blame them on staff. Just listen and care!
